Here are a few highlights of joyous moments since the release of my book, The Syrian Jewelry Box…. I invite you to celebrate with me as my story continues to help others and to bridge the gap between our cultures by sharing our similarities.

With heartfelt gratitude, Caroline and Mario helping me with my message: Journey to heal through love and forgiveness. ‘ASP Alumna (Class of 1979) Carina Sue Burns has recently written The Syrian Jewelry Box, found at top English-language libraries and bookstores in Paris, including our ASP HUB! This acclaimed book focuses on Carina’s experience as a young American growing up in blissful innocence in the Middle East whose life changed suddenly and dramatically upon discovering a shocking family secret. An exotic drive through the Middle East and Europe serves as a metaphoric journey for the woman she becomes—a silent nomad searching for her identity. Carina’s fascinating story lends support to others on a similar search, and helps to bridge gaps between different cultures!’When I was in Boston, Massachusetts, to autograph my book at The Harvard Coop, lo and behold, 8 copies, with gratitude Nancie Scheirer :) And, look at the placement!! Feeling ecstatic!

Boston Public Library

Momentum builds…landed the Boston Public Library! With gratitude, Joanne! It will take a few months to catalogue, but I’m patient!

Feeling pretty proud and excited as my book continues to circulate. Special thank you to Abigail Altman, Grant Rosenberg, and the wonderful circulation team of the American Library in Paris! In a few months, my book will be displayed on their shelf!!! I instantly felt at home by the American Library in Paris’s gregarious staff, and found it a cozy environment to browse through their …collection of over 100000 items…

What an honor. I am so grateful. Look at this! My story is now part of Shakespeare and Company– “…the best known bookshop in the world.” My book will soon be available to tourists et al. :))

I’m excited to let you know that The Abbey Bookshop has embraced my story. A tiny but charismatic bookshop lured me beyond its two chock-full
high piled book stacks adorning the arched window entrance. I snaked
through to not bump over more stacks of books. Then I happend upon its
friendly owner, Brian.
